Diamond In The Pacific
Diamond In The Pacific – Screenplay Synopsis
Minor league baseball pitcher Andy Barrett had it all. A blazing fastball, a beautiful fiancée, and the New York Yankees ready to sign him to the big leagues. After Pearl Harbor everything changed and before Andy knew it, he was going from a dugout to a cockpit and the biggest naval battle in history - Midway. But his own battle was just beginning.
Captured by the Japanese after his torpedo bomber is shot down, Andy is taken to a prison camp on a remote island. There he learns how ugly the war can be and fights to accept his fate of torture, violence and certain death. His war of wills with the captain of the guard only deepens his hatred for his captors, until...
The replacement prison camp Commander Nakahara offers him a surprising challenge to play his guards in a game of baseball. Andy has a tough choice to make. Does he succumb to the pain, the hate, and the prejudice consuming him? Or maybe, just maybe his love for the game is enough to make him look beyond the barbed wires and the war to see something beyond an enemy.
The Natural meets the The Bridge on the River Kwai in this dramatic story of war tearing men apart, yet the great game of baseball pulling them back together.
